Feedback from Presentation

Good Points

The box design would be good for storing other CD's
The text is easy to read on the design
The color scheme is consistent.

Bad Points

The color looks to reggae style.
It doesn't follow previous example CD packages.
It may take to long to build the Cube.
There is no record labels

Research Report

1. Explain what you have been researching and for what reason?

I have been researching into CD packaging and i have been looking into previous CD covers by EXAMPLE to find out what he has on his CD covers. I then looked into the conventions of a CD package so that i had more knowledge of what i needed to put on my own cover. I then chose one of examples cd covers and asked some people what they thought was the good and bad points of the cover. I then looked at some actual packages of cds to get a idea for my package. Once i had made my design i showed it to a focus group to see what they thought.

2. What were the findings from the research?

In my research i found out that on EXAMPLES cd covers he has a picture of him, his name and also the album name. and that they are normally very colourful. Whilst looking at the conventions i found out all of the normal things you would see on a cd package for example things like the Track List, Album Name, Record Label ect. When i looked into EXAMPLES “ I CREATED DISCO” cover i got a focus group to look at it and give me some feedback on what they thought was good and bad about the cover and i noted these down on my blog. I also looked into different types of packaging so that i could get some ideas of how my package will look.

3. How will these findings affect your idea?

All of this research will help me because i now know what should be on a CD package. the primary research also helped me because i know what people like and dislike about EXAMPLE’S previous work so i know what to do and also what not to do. This all came together to help me make a mental picture of what people liked and then i was able to replicate that in my work. The research i did into the packaging made me think that i needed to come up with a more intricate design because there wasn’t anything like that on the market.
